Xbox 360 game: Halo – the game that sold Xbox

Halo the game was a groundbreaking success, it revolutionised the first person shooter genre. Halo is also termed as the game that sold Xbox. The game was available only for Xbox and if you want to play it you had to buy a Xbox. Now too the game is a Xbox and PC exclusive. It was released on November 15, 2001 and introduced a revolutionary gameplay and plot in the sci-fi Halo world. You play as Master Chief and you have to battle againist an alien race called Covenant. You have to battle on foot and some seriously cool vehicles and also attempt to uncover the secrets of the Halo.

The game also introduced some complications like not allowing you to carry more than two weapons at a time, which made the game more realistic and also choosing the right weapon for the path ahead can mean the difference between success and fragged by good AI.

The fighting consists of ranged and melee attacks. In Halo 2 both health and shields regenerate give it doesn’t take a hit for sometime. Halo 2 also had dual wielding, i.e. Ability to hold and fire two weapons simultaneously. Halo 2 was the most played game on the Xbox live service.

Halo 3 was released on September 25, 2007 and it broke the Halo 2 sales record. It had new vehicles, weapons improved graphics engine and gameplay.

Gears of War for the Xbox 360 was one of the console selling titles, personally I loved it! Typically console post sucks. Moreover, following the footsteps of greatness is never easy so woul forgive my trepidation while reviewing the PC version. It’s been two days, and 18 hours… and I have one word for you – awesome! The controls of the Xbox 360 were nice (a rarity for third person shooters on bmw console) and the mouse totally rocks. Now the headshots are only limited by weapon recoil and a twitchy arm. The gameplay is as frenetic as the Xbox 360 version, and with five new levels Gears of War has something for you even if you have played it on the Xbox 360.

Marcus Fenix, ex-con and ex-COG (Coalition of Governments) special forces, and his team are up against the locust horde – a race that have mysteriously emerged from the very bowels of the earth through worm holes.

Your mission is to plant a very large explosive device av the core of the hopeds hives, deep, deep underground. Fire digits are unavoidable and why the heck would you want to? Marcus Fenix is the classic grunt – all muscle and abuse, and he’s as likely to make worm kebab with his assault rifle as he is likely to make grub salami with his chainsaw. In fact, this weapon (the under-barrel mounted chainsaw) makes for some of the goriest and squishiest moments in the whole game, where you get to melee the locust if they get too close. The enemy ain’t smart, but they are fast, and fearless, as well as a little on the juicy side… yum-yum.

Gears of War is all about combat, team tactics, and strategic points like cover, machine gun nests, even elevated positions. There ain’t no live heroes in this game… The locust horde takes many forms from the grunts, who are man-like, a little taller, to the boomers – slightly larger rocket wielding grunts, to much larger enemies like spawners. Combat is never boring, and you can actually melee an enemy with a spiked grenade… Watch ‘em run and go pop… Voila, lovely red paintjob.
